Vancouver Trip! Pt 1

Flight and Arrival
It's an early morning while getting ready to catch the morning flight to Vancouver. Last minute check-ups on items we have and don't have, feed the hamsters and leave enough food for them for the week, lock up everything.. and out the door we go! We were quite lucky that one of my mother's clients were also flying today and offered us a ride to the airport. Checking in and going through security was a breeze.. and we boarded relatively fast because my sister's handicap priority from her surgery.

On board and ready for the relatively short flight [4 hrs]. My sister and I were quite surprised that Air Canada charges for almost every thing now.. even blankets and headphones.. because last time we flew, they were handed out free. And looking at the menu was a mix of "wow this is new" and "holy crap that price".

Upon arrival and after renting out a car, it was quite confusing on the Vancouver roads. The signs and lanes were small and narrow (just like in HK).. even the parking! And speak about parking.. you have to pay for parking EVERYWHERE. Literally. It was also a bit frustrating too since it's the first time using our new GPS and we're on unfamiliar territory. So decision to stop at a nearby restaurant before continuing the search of where our hotel was located.

We stopped at a restaurant called White Spot. I had a delicious and familiar dish that I love just to get my started on this travel.

Fettuccine Alfredo Pasta at White Spot, Vancouver

After lunch, we finally found our hotel, Marriotts around 3:50 PM. We checked in and headed up to our rooms to just relax and nap since we were up so early in the morning and the slight time difference made the day feel long. Vancouver time it's 4 PM, but in Toronto time it's 7 PM.

Marriotts Hotel Room with Sister

My sister and I got a double-bed room on the 7th floor and in opposite direction, my parents got a king-sized bed and a corner view of the ocean. The setting of the room wasn't too bad.. but the pillows were just way too soft! You have no support. Just sink into it! Another disappointment was that there is no free Wi-Fi in the hotel rooms. You have to pay for it.. shocking, I know. The only free Wi-Fi you can get is in the lobby of the hotel. Unfortunately on the day of the arrival, I have been maintaining a splitting headache and slept through the rest of the day.

Headaches are a vacation's nightmare! :c
